No matter how much technology has been employed to safeguard confidential information, your organization may still have a breach. When a compromise occurs, proper planning will enable your organization to respond, comply with legal requirements, and to protect your brand and constituents.

Forty-five states now require notification in the case of a breach of personally identifiable information (PII). As well, new federal legislation enhances requirements under HIPAA for data security and data breach notification in the event of a compromise of protected health information (PHI). Business decision makers, privacy officers, and contingency planners must understand the impact of this legislation, the timeframe for legal compliance, and the ramifications of non-compliance and lack of readiness. Knowing the requirements is the key to good planning, having the right people in place is the key to good execution, and effectively managing a data breach incident is the key to brand protection and good public relations. Learn from a panel of experts who have developed and executed data breach incident response plans to manage actual events.
