Originally introduced with the publication of British Standard (BS) 25999 in 2007, organizational certification is relatively new to the business continuity profession. And, with the introduction and increasing momentum of the PS-Prep program, the popularity and business value associated with certification is certain to increase in organizations across the U.S.

It’s no secret that without preparation certification audits can be expensive and time-consuming – which is exactly why a successful outcome the first time around is so critical. And, it’s very common – even with very mature business continuity programs and management systems – that some remediation will be necessary to fully align to a standard. This is where Avalution excels. Our team has assisted numerous organizations in preparing for and successfully achieving organizational certification. In fact, Avalution successfully achieved BS 25999 certification in May 2011. But, it’s important to note, that these successful outcomes all started with a similar element – a readiness assessment.

Avalution’s readiness assessment provides a comprehensive, current-state program analysis that measures readiness for certification against a chosen standard – ASIS SPC.1-2009, BS 25999, or NFPA 1600. The analysis will not only identify all areas of non-compliance, but also provide detailed suggestions on how to correct the issues before the audit begins. As a result, these findings will assist your organization in passing the audit the first time, saving time, money, hassle and additional resources needed to complete a second audit.
